Every UB brand double bass is handmade in the Italian Tradition of instrument making at our Stonington, Connecticut workshop by our staff of skilled luthiers. UB instruments are made from our own private holdings of tone woods which we have selected from around the world. At any given time Upton Bass String Instrument Co. has quantities of tone woods that would allow for the making of over two thousand instruments. This stock has been built over many years, and we continue to procure, for future use, both green and lofted lots that meet our rigorous quality standards.
All UB basses feature the same top quality UB components which have made our instruments renowned world wide, including: “A grade” Ebony fingerboard, tailpiece, nut and saddle. Fine French bridges, durable German endpins, and Individual Style Rubner tuners. All instruments are made per order and hand-varnished using centuries old proven ingredients and techniques
