The UB Deluxe Double Bass is, simply put, the best laminated double bass offered by Upton Bass. If you asked us to give your our best laminated bass THIS is what we would make for you! Core laminations of well seasoned Italian Poplar are covered in flamed Maple for the back and sides and Spruce for the top. The Deluxe bass is topped with the same Grade A ebony fittings and hardware as the standard Upton Basses. Each and every Upton double bass is custom made to your specifications, and includes the full, highly acclaimed "Upton Bass Setup".
All Upton Basses come standard with our 42 inch string length and a D neck. However as each bass is custom made for every client, we offer our basses with many custom configuration possibilities. Upton Bass offers all of our basses with string lengths of 42", 41 1/2", & 41" All of our string lengths can be configured with your choice of a D or Eb (e flat) neck. We can also make all of our basses as left handed instruments, truly crafted for the lefty bass player. Five stings are also a common customization with either a low B or high C string. The UB Deluxe Laminated bass is available in a variety of configurations (some pictures below). The UB Deluxe Tiger Top has face and back veneers of quarter-sawn flamed Maple. This bass is for those of you that love the look of a bass with stripes! The Tiger Top is sure to turn heads at every performance both for its looks as well as its booming tone. The UB Deluxe Tiger Swing is crafted from the same materials as the UB Deluxe Tiger Top, but finished with the striking Upton Super Swing blonde varnish. The UB Deluxe "Super Swing" is our Deluxe Upton Bass, simply with the blonde varnish and the traditional spruce face veneer.

I've had my bass for over a year now, and nothing has gone wrong yet. The bass is absolutely amazing to play, and as a beginner i felt it was a dream to learn on.
The service Upton provided me with was outstanding, Kristin even got it shipped right to my local airport, this was great because i live in Norway.

Gary had worked on my bass in the past so I knew where i would go when it was time for a new/better instrument.
I've had my UB Deluxe Laminate since late January of '08. Couldn't be happier!
Great playability, nice tone, great build and finish quality. Nice to have the guys that built my bass nearby too.
The bass is out gigging every weekend and getting lots of compliments!

I have been playing an acoustic fretted bass with the bluegrass band UNION HIGHWAY for about two years. After deciding to switch to an upright bass, I spent alot of time researching them. I decided on the UB DELUX HYBRID by UPTON BASS because I wanted a solid spruce top, ebony fingerboard and tailpiece. They also provided all the custom options that I was interested in.
Josh was very knowledgeable and easy to work with and after talking with me for a few minuets knew how I wanted it built, the options I wanted and how I wanted it setup. Kristin kept all the paperwork straight even though I made several changes along the way.
The bass arrived in perfect condition and to my exact specs and now I an in the process of switching from fretted neck to the upright but the position markers I had installed really help.
The bass sounds, looks and plays great and I would recommend it to any professional player

and the sound is just what I needed for playing in an accoustical group at
our recreation center. I have been playing upright for about a year and a
half. I started on a 3/4 size, less expensive bass and would recommend that
anyone starting on upright skip the 3/4 size and order a 7/8 UB Hawkes

Hi everyone, I´m Jaime, from Mexico City and I have had my UB Deluxe for five months, so now it´s time to write something about this bass... It´s a great bass, great sound, great looking on stage, no matter if you play popular or classical music, the bow response is great...
The most important thing I can tell you is that my teacher, Aarón Cruz (a great bass player!), is going to buy the Hybrid Upton Bass because he just loved my Laminated one. I want also to thank everyone from Upton Bass for their great professional work, they are so closely I can even forget I´m so faraway. Thank you. The last thing, if you are not in the USA, you should check out your own country policy for import-export, because of the Mexican policy, I had to pay US $600, but this had nothing to do with Upton Bass.
