French or German Metropolitan Double Bass Bow co-designed by David Gage Stringed Instruments and Coda Bow - your choice of bow hair from Upton Bass! Why should you buy a Metropolitan Double Bass Bows from us? We will take the time to hair it with your choice: black, silver, white, or chestnut.
The idea behind creating the Metropolitan bass bow:
To create a bow with the feel and performance of pernambuco, but without dead spots - and to retain the responsiveness of wood without objectionable stiffness.
The Metropolitan Bass Bow also has a permanent camber; because it is happiest in its cambered shape, the Coda Bow, with normal use, will never wander from that shape; thus never have to be re-cambered.
French or German style Metropolitan double bass bow with your choice of hair from Upton Bass... how can you beat that?
*Since each bow is custom haired to your specifications, any returns will be refunded less our $75.00 rehairing fee. By purchasing a custom haired Gage Metropolitan Upright Bass Bow, you are understanding and agreeing to these terms.*
Note from Eric Roy, Vice President of Upton Bass String Instrument Co. : I personally re-hair all of our bows, and I am continuously impressed with the fit and finish of the Coda bows. They are as beautiful and precise inside as they are on the outside. If a wooden bow was made with the level of workmanship that I have experienced with the Coda bows, it would cost thousands of dollars. I simply have not seen this level of detail on any bow, especially at this price! Excerpt from

"Composite frog with carbon fiber weave slide and silver plated
ferrule (earlier versions of the Metropolitan had the same frog as the
Revelation, so if your Metro has an ebony frog, thats why!). The frog has an
Etched Metropolitan logo on offset to the far corner. Target weight of 142
grams. 66 Cm stick length with 53 Cm hair length. Stiffer stick than
Revelation but a “softer” more “organic” feel due to balance points and less
dampening material. "
