We are often asked about the differences from brand to
brand in American made basses, like the Upton Bass and Englehardt Basses, so we decided to put together this page so that you can see the differences
in the basses side by side. What's important to you? What catches your eye? What looks good to you? Everyone has different tastes, and there is a upright bass that is just right for those tastes!

Compare: |
UB Bass |
Engelhardt Bass |
The models are a UB Standard and a Engelhardt ES1.
These two models we chosen based on the physical appearance of
the body style.

The Engelhardt has a spray finishes while the UB has a hand
applied varnish that can be custom shaded to your liking. |

The UB bass accentuates a more stylistic ff hole and is a small indicator of the extra attention we pay to our basses.
Additional ff-hole styles can be ordered. |

Both the UB & the Engelhardt have genuine Rubner tuners.
Upton Basses have the stronger "Clover" head and individual plates that allow
for a modern order that is better for the health of the scroll and the life of
your E string. |

The volute on the UB line of basses has a modern touch on the classic Italian scroll. The Engelhardt has
machine made glued on ears. |

The UB has more refinement to the carving with the UB taking a
modern approach, while the Engelhardt cuts aesthetic corners in lieu of machined
efficiency. |

| The pictures speak for themselves! We use a higher quality,
full size board made of ebony with a custom stylistic cut (upgrade) or a
traditional 3/4 straight cut! |
