These are excellent strings, well worth your consideration. I have them installed on a Fender P-Bass, with a Bartolini pickup and a Gotoh bridge. They produce a round and warm sound, are much easier on the fingers than roundwound strings I have played on other basses, and minimize any noise from left-hand movements. While the sound is still clearly that of an electric bass, it comes closer than most other strings to the sound of an upright. Since I play with a jazz trio, this is quite helpful in achieving the overall group sound we are aiming for. A professional musician with many years of experience, whose opinion I value, recently played my bass. As he handed it back to me, the first thing he said was: "Those are really nice strings!"

ive been playing for 20 years. i wanted to go flatwound on a new all maple jazz bass about four years ago. I tried every flat wound i could find. when i put the Thomastiks on i never took them off again. they have sounded amaizing for 4 or more years (the same set). they took about two weeks of playing to get rid of that new sticky feeling flat wounds have. then the tone mellowed out. You get killer thump with real nice mid range articulation.
they have a killer old school sound great for fingerstyle with their own unique charachter. They are lower tension than most so you can really fly on them. people always complement me on my tone and these strings are a big reason why.

These have to be the finest flat wound strings out there. After using several different brands, these flats just nail the sound I was looking for. Thomastik quality and Upton has the best prices!
