UB Fully Carved Double Bass

The instrument was varnished in house using a handmade spirit. This process leaves a unique appearance that is as individual as the wood itself.? The photo's below are not "stock" photographs...they are THE photographs of the actual bass you would receive. Although the bass photographed well, the studio lights make the instrument look flat in appearance. The bass is even more vibrant in your presence.

Upon the completion of the antiquing process the bass then went on to our setup luthiers. A thick grade A ebony board with a solo extension was fit and dressed. While many of our customers request fingerboards that reach to C, you can far exceed C and play all the way up to E! Next we installed the newest, most exquisite tuners from the Markneukirchen workshop of Rubner in a reverse orientation to lesson the stress put on the peg-box walls by the E string. These solid cast tuners give an old world look and feel that just cannot be had with stamped plate tuners. A German endpin and our stock French bridge round out this basses attention to detail.

The tone of this instrument is very clear and even in contrast to many Chinese basses that we find are often tubby. As with every instrument that goes through our setup workshop, we employ a number of proprietary processes to optimize the instrument in hand.
