All setup components on a Shen Bass from Upton Bass are upgraded from the factory supplied parts. We replace the stock bridge with a high quality French maple bridge, endpins are replaced with strong German made ebony collared endpins, stock maple painted tailpieces are replaced with AAA ebony tailpieces.

♪ High quality, heavy duty German made ebony endpins are fit with removable metal threaded rubber tips. The stock Shen endpins do not meet our quality expectations.
♪ Stock Upton Bass Bridges are meticulously fit, carved, and tonally adjusted for each individual bass. The top radius of each bridge is custom carved to meet the specifications of your playing style. Once a bridge meets our standards, it is then branded with our logo. Adjusters are installed for free, a value of $75!
♪ English style grade "AAA" ebony tailpieces are hung with Clef HITEC tailpiece cable. This lightweight, flexible cable is stronger than steel! After-lengths are carefully calculated and adjusted for the best tone.

We just purchased our 12 year old son this bass yesterday who has been playing for 2 years. We were very impressed with the customer service and attention we received from Gary & Dave. Our son is thrilled to have his own bass and we were happily able to stay within our budget. The set up was perfect and the bag included was great! Without a doubt, we'll be back to upgrade when he enters college.

I just received my Shen SB80 bass from Upton and couldn't be more pleased. I chose to buy from Upton because I judged their setup to be superior to the competition. The bass was setup just the way I wanted with my choice of strings and my preferred string height. The bass looks and sounds great - a real value for the price. They also paid for $200 of the shipping - I only paid $25. The bass feels and plays like an old friend instead of a new instrument. Also I had kind of thought the included bag wouldn't be that great but it is really nice, an improvement over my old bag. Thanks, Jack and everybody at Upton. I'll be back for my bass needs.

I've had this bass for a few weeks now and I am more than pleased. It's got a big sound and plays real easy thanks to the good setup. I have received a lot of compliments on it from other bass players and my professors. Everyone who's heard me play it has remarked on the wonderful sound. Awesome buy for the money.
