The back of this bass is not original and is actually laminated.  There is a label claiming to be Chas Michel Gaud, Mirecourt, 1802.

This Abraham Prescott bass is in serious need of restoration.  We are offering it to the public PRE-restoration as-is.  A great opportunity for the serious minded.  Please feel free to call with questions about this Prescott bass but please don't ask the pre-restoration price.  The serious buyer should make an offer that they feel is reasonable based on the potential of this Prescott double bass.  Upton Bass purchased this Abraham Prescott Bass with the full intention of restoring it in the future however for the right price we will sell it pre-restoration.  If not we will happily restore it and sell it post-restoration in roughly the mid to high thirty thousand dollar price range, chances are we will also outfit it with a bass c extension.  In our opinion the bass needs a serious restoration in the approximate price range of fifteen thousand dollars.
