Pirastro Jazzer Double Bass Strings are modern jazz double bass strings. These strings for the double bass are famous for quick string response and long string sustain. With a steel rope core, Pirastro Jazzer Double Bass Strings are created to provide the superb pizzicato response on the double bass.
Gary's thoughts on Pirastro Jazzer bass strings: "These strings are not bow friendly but that is expected as they are even called jazz strings. But as jazz double bassists we do bow...I do find the strings a bit...well.....way too bright, even for pizzicato and they lack evenness. An ok substitute for Spirocores but still, not quite as good, they seem to modulate (go sharp in pitch at initial attack) quite a bit when I dig in. Most the sets I have played seem to lack an evenness from string to string. I prefer the sound of the E and A string over the D and G string. It's a neat quirky idea to have the ballends wrapped in rainbow colors but not the look I want on my bass. I'm thinking Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat"

I played these strings for about six months and loved them. As Gary said the bow doesn't work well, but if all you play is jazz these are the strings for you. They have a bright sound, and I actually played a gig without an amp.
